The Life Cycle of a Phenomenon tends to be marked by distinct phases.

An inspiring figure or leaders present a revolutionary approach pledging a solution for disconnected individuals.

And so it goes. Preparations are underway to confront the system overseas. Tensions are rising. Signs of trouble appear from the sidelines. A lone figure, naked, shivering, the phrase ATTACKING MINDSET displayed prominently as a symbol, has stumbled from the field and is taken aside under a blanket for a temporary assignment at Derbyshire.

Do you recall the beginning, when optimism reigned? The initial phase, of Bazball without brains.

2. Love-Bombing

Movement founders promise a fresh beginning, hope for a future, camaraderie, salvation among a group who all believe in the big idea.

What did it represent initially? Players celebrating enjoying success. Body art. Forearms. Focus. Peak performance vibes. Oh sure, The team will claim it’s not a real term, ironically since it’s not recognized, what exactly did I just watch?

However, everyone understands the concept. It’s Harry Brook attempting a move so unconventional it defies description. It’s the excitement of the captain in his final form, a look that says: thoughtful warrior, rugged appearance, untamed style, truly contemporary you half-expect to glance over and see him playing in the field bare-chested holding a fish.

It’s the batsman often seen addressing the media, resembling a joyful figure smartly dressed, uttering phrases such as we’re breaking down traditions. Certainly, the energy, initially, was only good energy.

3. The Growth Phase

Building period. Unity enforced by rote learning of key phrases. These principles are often illogical to prove commitment.

Is it just me? The criticism, the outrage, the feeling of letdown post-defeat seems too strong, unwarranted. England batted badly during the match, as they often do in Australia. They were savaged defensively for a couple of hours when tactics failed, outplayed by the batsman playing aggressively but smarter, adaptive to conditions, an athlete shining with a kind of light around him.

Now there is the attacks, the frustration, the view of the sport as a failure. What impact will this have?

4. External Conflict

Challenges surface from failures in the plan. Yet, mistakes are denied. It turns to hatred of the outside world.

Conversely, exists the larger scene of Australia’s more nuanced more culturally hard-wired exasperation with the aggressive tourists, stating, the methods you value and have fostered and nurtured as part of your identity from others, well, it’s all a bit of a gag after all.

And this is the real point. Everything is a cult. The style was a trend since the sport itself is insular. Seeking change, to foster positivity, they are simply replicating their upbringing, forming a new circle, a limited community, however with a modern squad and a mentor promoting authenticity as long as yourself is quite a lot like myself.
